Our Rating: (1.2 / 5)
The truth is that despite their long-standing history, recently I’ve found a lot of players voicing concerns about the site. So in this Unibet app review, I’m going to give you an idea of what to expect when betting there – and why you should strongly consider not betting at Unibet.

Key Features
One of the biggest complaints I came across online when looking at player’s experiences at Unibet is the bet-limiting measures the bookie appears to implement on punters. It’s completely normal for bookmakers to reduce the amount of money punters can wager on events, if that punter has been winning a lot of money. However, many bettors at Unibet appear to have had their accounts severely limited for winning nominal amounts of money. For example, one complaint read that a bettor was only allowed to wager $1 or less – because they won $130 on another bet. What’s worse, when they voiced their concerns to Unibet they were given the hand – they weren’t willing to look into the case and consider revoking the limit.
This seems to be a really common theme at Unibet, and there are hundreds of punters voicing similar concerns online. Also worrying is the number of bettors stating Unibet are deliberately stalling their withdrawals. Later on in this review I’m going to be taking a closer look at this – I strongly suspect it has something to do with the so-called SOW (Source of Wealth) requests.
Website / App Design & Ease Of Use
As much as I don’t like the site, one thing I can’t really fault Unibet on is their website’s layout and ease of use. Everything is pretty well laid out, and navigation around the different markets is as simple as possible.
I think the biggest issue I have with the layout is the live betting/in-play section. The events are displayed in a way that makes it quite confusing – and if you’re in a rush (which I find is all too often the case when placing in-play bets) it can all get a bit confusing.
There’s also a downloadable Unibet app which is available to iOS and Android users. It’s free to download – but to be honest it’s not too different from their mobile-optimized website. Both the mobile app and the mobile-optimized website work pretty well – but it’s not the fastest, and creating an account on the mobile app could definitely be easier.
Software
Unibet’s sports betting software appears to be proprietary. However, if you play in their online casino you’ll be played on Playtech’s platform – one of the world’s largest iGaming companies.
Choice of Betting Markets
Unibet offers quite a large selection of betting markets, and you’ll be able to place bets on: American Football, Athletics, Australian Football, Badminton, Bandy, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Entertainment, Floorball, Football, Formula 1, Futsal, Golf, Greyhounds, Handball, Horse Racing, Ice Hockey, MMA, Martial Arts, MotoGP, Motor Sports, Olympic Games, Politics, Rugby, Snooker, Speedway, Surfing, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, Water Polo, Winter Sports, and Baseball.
I think it’s fair to say Unibet’s sports offering is good – but one area where they could improve is the quality of their odds. If you compare their odds to other major bookmakers – time and time again, you’ll find that Unibet’s odds are worse. This seems to be particularly prevalent with football and horse racing.
Banking – Deposit/Withdrawal Options
When it comes to depositing and withdrawing, Unibet offers far fewer payment methods than I would have expected to see at a global bookie. Currently, players can deposit and withdraw using VISA, MasterCard, Skrill, Neteller, Webmoney, ecoPayz, paysafecard and – in some countries – Instant Banking.
There are no fees attached to depositing, and funds are credited to your player account instantly.
On the face of it, Unibet’s withdrawal structure looks attractive. They have a huge daily withdrawal limit of $/£250,000 – more than most people will ever need to withdraw. However, my main concern arises when you look at the speed at which they are processing withdrawals.
Three or four years ago, I remember reading that Unibet was processing withdrawals incredibly quickly – often in as little as a few hours. However, a quick glance online shows this just isn’t the case anymore – and some bettors are being made to wait days or weeks for their withdrawals to be processed.
What’s worse, many of these bettors are being made to undergo extremely stringent SOW checks. This requires them to upload proof of their income – as part of the UK Gambling Commission’s new commitment to ensuring players are gambling within their means.
Unfortunately, the rules are very unclear – and some online gambling sites are choosing to take a heavy-handed approach. What’s worse is that Unibet is asking players to provide this information only when making a withdrawal. They are happy for players to deposit as much money as they like – but when it comes to withdrawing, players must undergo these checks.
This alone is enough for me to recommend you stay well away from Unibet. Here at Mobile Betting Site you’ll find information about tons of reputable, fast-paying bookmakers – so make sure you take a look around and read our in-depth reviews.
Safety and Security
Unibet holds two online gambling licenses, one from the UK Gambling Commission and one from the Maltese Gaming Authority. This is promising, at least, as both of these operators are known for ensuring licensees are adhering to laws and regulations. Don’t forget though; just because Unibet are holding a license, it doesn’t mean they’re treating their customers fairly.
In 2019 Platinum Gaming Ltd, who own Unibet, were made to pay a fine of £1.6m for failing to identify gambling harm and prevent money laundering.
Whenever I see actions like this taken against a site for anything to do with failing to protect vulnerable people, or helping to fund organised crime through money laundering, it is a major red flag for me and I will never bet with a site that does this.
In terms of their website’s safety and security I was happy to see their SSL certificate is valid and up-to-date. This ensures bettor’s sensitive information is safe and secure. That’s fine, but doesn’t do anything to mitigate the other issues.
Customer Service/Support
Like most of the larger bookmakers I come across, Unibet offers three ways for customers to get in touch with their customer support team; live chat, email and phone. Their support centre is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week too, so if you do run into problems (and that’s quite likely!) you should be able to speak to someone no matter what time of day it is.
Personally, I’d always recommend you get in touch using the live chat facility. This will connect you with one of the customer support reps in just a minute or two. If you decide to go ahead and email them, be prepared to wait between 24-48 hours. Their email response times are poor, and this support option should only be used as a last resort.
Currencies
Unibet does actually offer a decent selection of currencies. This includes BRL, CHF, CZK, DKK, EUR, GBP, HUF, LTL, NOK, PLN, RON, SWK, and USD.

Unibet restricts players from the following countries from placing bets at their site: Afghanistan, Australia, Denmark, Estonia, Ethiopia, France and other French territories, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, North Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Spain, Syria, Turkey, Romania, Ireland, United States of America and other U.S. territories, and Yemen.
Summary: Do Not Join
I hope this Unibet review has convinced you that this is not a good place to bet online. But the positive news is that there are lots of great betting sites and apps out there, as well as a few rogue ones. Check out our other reviews and pick one that offers you the service you deserve.

After testing 20 online sportsbooks for our 2021 review, here are our top findings on Unibet:
- Unibet provides an above average selection of bets and live bets, including instant bets and team and player props.
- Unibet’s mobile app is functional but could be much more user-friendly with a few tweaks. I would also be nervous signing up for Unibet after reading reviews in the App Store about its geotechnology.
- First-time bettors will appreciate the education Unibet offers, as well as the new and ongoing bonuses and promotions.
States Supported: Indiana, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Casino: Online casino is offered only in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Unibet offers over 25 slots, roulette, blackjack, and virtual poker games; however, online poker is not available. Note: This review focuses on sports betting and not casino.

Sports and Bets Offered
Unibet’s selection of sports and bets is above average, offering hundreds of bets for popular games. After DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet, I would place Unibet in the second-best tier of bets offered. Unibet offers all standard wagers (moneyline, spread, total) in addition to a vast selection of team and player props, pre-built parlays, and alternative lines. Still, it doesn’t have any custom bet types like the sportsbooks mentioned above.
Prop Bets: Unibet offers a modest variety of prop bets. An example of a prop bet is, “Will Damian Lillard make over or under 3.5 three-pointers?” Another example is “What team will score more first-quarter points between the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers?”
Cash Out Feature: Like most sportsbooks, Unibet offers a cash-out feature, which allows you to amend your original bet and lock in a profit or a loss by settling your bet (or a portion of your bet) early, without having to wait for the event to finish. Knowing you can cash a bet out early incentivizes you to watch every game you bet on, or at least get scoring updates.
Bet Builder and Pre-Packs overview: Two of Unibet’s newer bet types are the Bet Builder and Pre-Packs bets. Both bet types are parlays. A parlay bet is a group of bets, typically spread, moneyline, or total bets, combined into one bet to increase the payout odds. For the parlay to win, each separate bet has to win.
Pre-Packs: Pre-Packs are just like the Bet Builder; only Unibet pre-makes the parlays instead of you. While exciting to bet on, sportsbooks like Unibet focus on getting people to make more parlay bets because the odds favor the sportsbook.

Odds

Live Betting
Live betting, or betting on games that have already started, is an area where Unibet holds its own. Like BetRivers and FanDuel who also have good live betting, Unibet offers prop bets, instant bets, a live match tracker, and live scores.
Prop Bets: Unibet offers a ton of in-play bets and prop bets. An example of a prop bet is, “How many strikeouts will Clayton Kershaw throw?” An example of a live prop bet is “Will Manchester United or Liverpool score in the next five minutes?”
Instant Bets: Examples of instant betting include betting on the next swing of a tennis match or the next drive of a football game. For football, Unibet lets users bet on the next drive of an NFL game, the first play of each drive in an NFL game. Users can bet on the next point or the next throw-in for other sports like tennis or soccer.
Live Match Tracker: A live match tracker is an animated graphic that updates in real-time as you are watching a game. A match tracker has a live clock, displays the score by quarter, and even shows which team is attacking. For NFL games, the match tracker also lists the last play, the total plays and yards on the drive, and the down and distance. Unibet’s live match tracker also lists a few statistics.
Live Streaming: Live streaming allows you to stream games live in the app. Live streaming, currently offered by a few sportsbooks, is presently limited to tennis and soccer games.

Unibet Mobile App
The Unibet mobile app is not as well-designed as other top sports betting apps such as DraftKings or FanDuel. Numerous bettors from multiple states have reported issues with the app’s geotechnology in both the Apple and Google app stores.
Likes: Once you select a game, navigating to different bets for that game is easy as they are clearly labeled.
Dislikes: Navigating to the sport or team you want to bet on is a pain. Unlike most apps, there is not a menu at the bottom of the app. Typically these bottom menus take you to your betslip, allow you to view all sports, view promotions, or other helpful locations in the app. Unibet is one of the only sports betting apps not to offer this.
App store complaints: Customers in each state Unibet operates in (IN, NJ, PA) have left negative reviews about Unibet’s geo-targeting technology, reporting long wait times or inaccurate readings. Sportsbooks have to use geotechnology to ensure you are in a jurisdiction that offers sports betting. Unibet has received more complaints for its lack of functioning technology than any other sportsbook I’ve reviewed.
Statistics: Unlike leaders such as DraftKings, Unibet does not offer any pre-game statistics in its mobile app or website.

Education
Education is a strong suit for Unibet. The sportsbook offers an educational betting guide that explains moneyline, spread, total, parlay, teaser, live betting, cash outs, future betting, and prop bets. Examples are used for each bet as well as pictures. There is enough detail in the guide for new bettors to understand each bet type.

Bonuses & Promotions
Unibet offers promotions for first-time bettors and a variety of ongoing promotions for existing customers. Unibet’s promotions are decent. However, I found there to better promotions available with BetRivers and DraftKings.
New customer bonus: For new sports bettors, Unibet offers three $10 risk-free bets and one risk-free bet up to $250. For new casino players, Unibet provides a $10 free bonus and a 100% casino deposit bonus up to $500. Note: While I have not experienced this, there have been many complaints that Unibet defaults bonuses to the casino bonus, and customer support makes it difficult to switch after the matter. Unibet is the only sportsbook I’ve seen with this issue. Be sure to double-check what bonuses you are signing up to receive.
Existing customer bonus: Unibet offers a good variety of promotions for existing customers. Examples of bonuses include parlay boosts, live betting boosts, and casino points. Unibet typically provides 5 – 8 ongoing promotions, which is above average.

Final Thoughts
Despite offering a good selection of bets and live bets, Unibet doesn’t have enough strengths to compete with some of the best online sportsbooks. Especially when you consider the geotechnology complaints early app-users have experienced.
